God Bless the U.S.A. *Bonus Track

(Traci Toguchi)
29-08-2006
Lee Greenwood
From Feel the Breeze CD liner notes:
"Following the events of 9/11/01, I was asked to sing this song for the opening of the Miss Hawaii Pageant the following year. The Miss Hawaii Organization gave me the creative freedom to compose an arrangement in my style with one of the best in the business, Pierre Grill. Since then, I've used this arrangement for other events in which our troops were honored.

As a yonsei or forth generation American, I am extremely grateful and proud to have been born and raised in America. The endless opportunities, resources, and freedom inspires me to dream big and do what I can to make this world a little better than when I arrived.

A special thank you goes out to Nisei veterans for helping Japanese Americans and especially this yonsei, in particular, be able to live with the freedom and opportunities that we do now.

I dedicate this song to all soldiers and veterans. I will forever be humbled and thankful for your ultimate courage and selfless sacrifice."
If tomorrow all the things were gone
I worked for all my life
And I had to start again
To live with love instead of strife

Thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Honolulu
From New York to LA
There's pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I wont forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

And I'm proud to be and American
where at least I know I'm free
And I wont forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
